Welcome to Coaldale

Get Directions

Known as the Gem of the West, Coaldale is located in southern Alberta, near the scenic Oldman River. Coaldale offers the longest hours of sunshine in Canada in the summer with moderate winter seasons. Settlers began arriving in 1800, lured by the close access to rail lines, ideal weather, and good agricultural soil. Ranchers took advantage of the nutritional grasses that grown on the fertile loam soil.

Key Community Features

The Coaldale Birds of Prey Centre attracts visitors from across the world for viewing and photographing live animals, such as a trained falcon, owl, hawk, or eagle.
